Outreach Award - Are you fascinated by the night sky?

SSVI is your chance to win a telescope

In 2025, the organisers of the “Stars Shine For Everyone” (SSVI) project will award optical telescopes to the BL4S teams submitting the 15 best outreach proposals. SSVI is “an astronomy project for children with disabilities and underserved communities around the world”.

If you would like to be considered for winning a telescope, your team has to organise a science education or outreach activity in your community. Inclusiveness should be a very important component of this activity. The goal is to share your passion for science with people that are less exposed to science. Your team could, for example, think of a creative way to introduce physics to children coming from a disadvantaged area in your region. Then, describe this science education or outreach activity that the members of your team have already organised or will organise in a section of your written proposal (up to 200 words for your outreach proposal; in addition to the 1000-words limit of your BL4S experiment proposal).

The telescopes are extremely special: Not only can you observe the night sky with them, but also they are signed by famous scientists, including Nobel prize laureates. For example, Nobel prize laureate François Englert, CERN’s Director-General Fabiola Gianotti, as well as ESA astronaut and first female ISS commander Samantha Cristoforetti have signed the telescopes in the past.
